About the Department
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights defines social rights as the right to economic, social, and cultural freedoms that are essential for people to live a life of dignity. Social Welfare is a discipline that deals with social policies and Social Welfare practices and services to realize social rights for all people. The Department of Social Welfare aims to foster Social Welfare professionals who lead the way in social solidarity, realization of social justice, and practice of human rights by acquring in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of social policies and systems, and Social Welfare practices and services, in order to realize social rights.
Social policy covers public assistance, health insurance, unemployment insurance, and public pension systems to realize the social rights of people suffering from precarious work conditions, poverty, unemployment, illness, old age, and industrial accidents, as well as basic income security for all people. Social Welfare practice and services covers health and social service systems for individuals and families with physical and mental disabilities, addiction problems such as alcohol and smartphones, and caregiving issues for the elderly or children, as well as Social Welfare practice methods to provide direct assistance.
Major Course Guide
Year 1
│ Introduction to Social Welfare
Build a foundation in what Social Welfare is. This course provides an overview of the concepts, philosophy, history, methods and disciplines of Social Welfare and explores the position and prospects of the profession.
│ Human Behavior and Social Environment
A course that understands human behavior from a systemic and dynamic perspective through the interaction between the individual and the environment.
Year 2 │ Social Welfare Practice
This course provides basic knowledge of Social Welfare practice in general and basic knowledge of Social Welfare practice models for individuals, families, and groups from an integrated perspective. You will learn about the basic philosophy and values of Social Welfare practice, integrative perspectives, relational and process theories of Social Welfare practice, models of Social Welfare practice, and case management.
Year 3 │ Social Research Theory
This course is designed to enable students to understand and evaluate the use of social research as a tool in professional Social Welfare practice. Students will learn basic social research vocabulary, values and ethics of social research, problem formulation and conceptualization, measurement methods, sampling methods, various survey designs, and data analysis methods.
Year 4 │ Welfare State Theory
Learn about the concept and types of welfare states, and examine what a true welfare state is, using examples from countries that are considered modern welfare states.

Socio Drama
We are a society that meets regularly to talk about the issues that surround us, empathize with each other, and express ourselves through various techniques. We learn more deeply through workshops, and in the fall, we hold regular performances. Socio Drama Society activities are an opportunity to grow and learn about ourselves and others.
MIR (the Most Innocent Relationship)
This is a 1:1 child mentoring service society that pursues the Most Innocent Relationship. It aims to convey a pure heart to society through service, and conducts mentoring in cooperation with the Kogang General Social Welfare Center.

This is a quartet with the meaning of 'whistling', which is a genre-agnostic choir that sings warm and pleasant songs for improved aural ambience.
Meaning
A volunteer club affiliated with Chung-Ang University that aims to form bonds among members and carry out volunteer activities through regular meetings. It also helps to create a social welfare mindset by finding and discussing current issues related to social welfare at meetings.
